August 4-10 is dedicated to celebrating health centers around the country. The Lake Superior Community Health Center is joining in on the week-long celebration at their Duluth Clinic on Thursday, August 8.

Their event theme is "Routed in Community." Strategy and Outreach Director, Jessie Peterson, says it's an opportunity to give thanks to everyone from patients to staff at the center.

It'll take place in the back parking lot of the clinic on Grand Avenue. There will be free grilled food and fresh produce from Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank, games and more. Peterson says this is the second year the center is hosting this event.

"We have more community partners who will be there with tables and activities," she explains. "We're offering more from our health center. Each of our departments will have some sort of health activity so you can come and learn more about our medical, dental."

There will also be a free clothing/home-goods drive for those in need.

"We want everyone to leave with more than they walked in the door with," Peterson explains.

The celebration runs from 5 to 7 p.m. Click here to learn more about the Lake Superior Community Health Center.
