DULUTH - According to Adeline Leskey, this is the best chocolate chip cookie recipe that she has ever made. To make it more festive for the season, Adeline suggests using mint chips in place of the chocolate chips.
This cookie recipe was one of the entries in the Good Morning Northland Cookie Contest. We asked GMN viewers for their favorite recipes and Adeline shared one of her favorites.
Vanilla Rich Chocolate Chip Cookies
3 1/4 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp salt
1 1/3 cups of butter
1 1/4 cup sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
4 tsp vanilla
1 pkg (12 oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips or mint chips
1 cup chopped walnuts
Mix flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside. Beat butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add in eggs and vanilla and mix well. Gradually mix in flour on low speed. Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts.
Drop by rounded tablespoon at least 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake in a preheated oven at 375 degrees for 8 - 10 minutes or until lightly brown. Cool on baking sheet for 1 minute. Remove cookies to wire rack to cool.
