DSSO Kicking Off Second Half of its Season

The Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra is getting ready to kick off its second half of the 2019-2020 season.  


It will start with a show on Saturday, February 1 at the DECC's Symphony Hall.  The show is called Obsession and it's at 7 p.m.

"The title for it came from mostly two pieces," Music Director Dirk Meyer said.  "The very first one is a piece by American composer Michael Daugherty.  It's called the 'Red Cape Tango.'"

The other one is 'Symphonie Fantastique' by Hector Berlioz.

The 'Red Cape Tango' represents Superman's fight to the death with super villian, Doomsday. 

"The red cape refers to Superman," Meyer said.

Throughout the season there will be other shows to see.  They'll have a concert with the Chorus and they'll feature works by Beethoven in honor of his 250th birthday this year.
