The department says crews responded to a structure located on the 100 block of Chester Parkway in East Duluth just before 2:27 a.m. They found the front porch was heavily involved.

One male was still inside the structure at the time of the fire, but the department says they were able to find at the rear of the house. He was treated on scene by department personnel and transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The porch roof had the potential to collapse during the incident, so it was pulled down and away from the rest of the structure.

Damages to the structure are estimated at $50,000. The Duluth Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
