If you still have a Christmas tree that you need to get rid of, Twin Ports Trailer Trash can help.  The company is offering free Christmas tree removal for two days only.

Bernard McCarthy, the owner of Twin Ports Trailer Trash, said there's always been a place for people to drop their trees off for free, but with it being the holidays, people might not have time.  That's why they decided to offer the service for free.

"The trees need to be curbside, they need to call us by this Friday, and the trees can't be flocked, they have to be real trees," McCarthy said.  "We won't accept wreaths, decorations, or anything like that."

He said the ornaments, lights, garland, and tinsel all need to be off.

After they're picked up, McCarthy takes them to WLSSD.

"They work with the City of Duluth to chip them up and turn them into usable product, that way we can keep them out of the landfill," McCarthy said.

This is the first year Twin Ports Trailer Trash is offering it.  McCarthy said it's a slow time of year for them and they wanted to give back to the community.

To sign up for the free Christmas tree removal service, go to or their Facebook page, Twin Ports Trailer Trash.  You can also call 218-206-7225 or email

The service is being offered on January 6th and 7th.  Sign up by Friday, January 3rd.
