The annual Children's Charity Gala is taking place at The DECC's Harborside Ballroom on Thursday, April 16. Proceeds go towards grants that are given to local families with a child or children facing life-threatening illness. Each grant is worth $2,500 and is used for unexpected costs that insurance doesn't cover.

"You can have the greatest insurance in the world, but it doesn't put gas in your car," foundation Board Member Dr. Ross Perko says, "or cover meals or help with child care."

Dr. Perko works with and helps many of these children who are faced with a life-threatening illness.

One of the families being honored this year are the Sauers. Dr. Perko was able to help medically help them and the foundation was able to financially help them through some very tough times.

"They are the dream of, what, as a physician, I hope we are doing," he says.

At the gala, there will be a full meal, slient auction, live auction and a 'secret game' that will be revealed during the night.

Tickets are $75 each. Click here to reserve your seat.
