Kiwanis is a club in Duluth that has been around for over 100 years and they generate funds to give back to the children of our communities in the Duluth area, Ben Bengtson, one of the co-chair's from Kiwanis, said.

"Last year was our highest fundraising year," Bengtson said.  "We raised almost $40,000 generated from the auction and all of that money goes back into our youth services fund."

Kiwanis gets requests from different youth organizations around the area and then works to support as many organizations as possible through donations, according to Bengtson.

In the past six or seven years, the auction has used and Oberfoell Auctioneers for online bidding.  Bengtson said that has been live since Saturday for people to bid ahead of time.  Just search for Kiwanis to check out the items that will be up for auction.

They have eight big items that are up for auction this year and Bengston said every dollar goes back to the kids.

"We've got a hot tub from The Hot Tub Store, we've got a nice security package from Great Lakes Alarm, we've got a new dinner and train combo package with the North Shore Scenic Railroad and Blackwoods, and lastly we've got a fat tire bike from Ski Hut," Bengtson said.

The Kiwanis Auction is Saturday at 6 p.m. in the WDIO Studios.
