For 21 years Poplar, Wis. has been the place that has just about everything to get hunters ready for the firearm deer season at the Hunter's Expo that takes place as Mission Covenant Church.
"t's amazing," said first time vendor Tommy Thompson of Links Wild Safari. "You can come in here, you can see all of the new cross bows, you can see new hunting equipment."
No matter what element of the outdoors you like, the Hunter's Expo has you covered. It's also a place where hunters can full indulge in the longtime passion and tradition of hunting in Wisconsin.
"Doing an event like this is something that is pretty special to a lot of people here because it's something that is a way of life for them," said Youth Pastor Nathan Nelson. "It's something that they've been doing since they were very very young something they are very passionate about," he added.
Out of the hundreds that visit many are drawn to the big bucks on display. With the past three mild winters the Northland has experienced, Kevin Feind the Park Superintendent of Pattison and Amnicon Falls State Park says he's also hopeful hunters may see those big bucks this season.
"You don't go to bed at night dreaming of a spike. You want a big one," said Feind. "We've had three back-to-back easy winters so we haven't nearly the tallied more than we have prior to that. The chances of us seeing a four-year old buck is very good this year."
