3 Saints, 2 Yellowjackets Earn UMAC Weekly Honors

The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced their weekly Player/Athlete of the Week winners and three competitors from St. Scholastica and two from UW-Superior are among those recognized.

In baseball, Aaron Weber of Scholastica is the Player of the Week. The sophomore from Sauk Rapids, Minnesota lead the Saints in UMAC-opening sweep of Wisconsin-Superior. He tallied three hits, four RBI, seven runs and 10 total bases. He also recorded home runs in each of the two wins.

UW-Superior swept the softball awards. Katie White is the Player of the Week and Macy Hanson is the Pitcher of the Week. White, a senior from Pequot Lakes, Minnesota lead Wisconsin-Superior in four UMAC wins last week. She went 7-for-12 (.538) with 11 RBI and five runs scored She also recorded three home runs for 1.455 slugging mark. Hanson, a senior from Grantsburg, Wisconsin, pitched three wins, two complete games and a save in 16 innings. She allowed just two earned runs and held opponents to .148 average and struck out 27 of total 58 batters faced (46.5 percent).

The Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week is Frank Cerar of St. Scholastica. The junior from Plainview, Minnesota recorded two fourth-place finishes at MSU-Mankato meet. He was the top NCAA Division III finisher in pole vault with mark of 3.82 meters (12-6.25) and he leads the UMAC in pole vault this season.

The Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week is Casey Hovland of St. Scholastica. The senior from North Branch, Minnesota won the 1,500-meter run at the MSU-Mankato meet. She clocked a time of 4:47.82 that is just off her program record. She also leads the UMAC in the event this season.
