Mountain Iron-Buhl, Bigfork Advance to Section 7A Girl's Basketball Title Game

Duluth, Minn. - Mountain Iron-Buhl and Bigfork will play for the Section 7A Girl's Basketball Title on Thursday night at Romano Gym on the campus of UMD.

The Rangers defeated Floodwood 68-21 as Mountain Iron-Buhl returns to the Section 7A Title Game. They've advanced to state the pass seven straight seasons.

Floodwood senior Mikayla Koivisto broke the program record for scoring. She needed nine points to tie Megan Aho's mark of 1,678. Koivisto finished with 10 points and tied and broke the mark with free throws.


Cromwell-Wright's streak of two-straight state tournament trips ends as they fell 38-34 against Bigfork. The Cardinals went to state in 2016 and 2017 as Section 5A Champions.

The Rangers and Huskies will meet Thursday at 7 p.m.
