#1 Hermantown Defeats #3 Grand Rapids in Hawks Showdown

It was a showdown in Hermantown as the Thunderhawks visited the Hawks.

Two of the best boy's hockey teams in the state collided on Tuesday with No. 3 ranked in Class AA Grand Rapids visiting No. 1 in Class A Hermantown.

Hermantown defeated Grand Rapids winning 4-3.

Ryan Sandelin struck first for the Hawks just thirty-two seconds into the first period. Rapids Jack Burnson scored the equalizer in the first period to make it 1-1.

The Hawks tacked on two more goals in the second period by Dylan Kolquist and another by Ryan Sandelin to take a 3-1 lead. Micah Miller made it 3-2 after a power play goal.

A goal in the third period by Logan Judnick made it 4-2 Hermantown. Thunderhawks Blake McLaughlin followed up with a goal to cut the lead to one.

Both teams are a part of the Perkins High School Hockey Frenzy on Thursday in Duluth.
