Only a few prep hockey teams have yet to drop the puck on their season including defending Class AA State Champions the Grand Rapids Thunderhawks. They'll open their season on the road in Coleraine, Minn.

Grand Rapids biggest challenge this season is dealing with early departures from players. They lost their top line that included all Division I commits and their netminder who closed out the season with the Thunderhawks winning their first title since 1980.

With plenty of younger guys on the team, first year Head Coach Chris Marinucci expects nerves to start the season, especially against cross-town rival Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin.

"I think you're going to see that, especially over in Coleraine. It's one of those places where it's not easy to play. We got a bunch of new guys that are going to have to step up and I think you're going to see a lot of nerves that first game," said Marinucci.

"I don't think they know what it's like yet coming into these big games. We have to play big roles and they have to fill big shoes," said senior forward Evan Mischke.

Puck drop is set for 7:30 P.M.
