Buzzer Beater Upsets Thunderhawks Late Run in the Quarterfinals

With the clock set to expire in regulation of the Class AAA quarterfinal game between Alexandria and Grand Rapids, sophomore guard Kaye Paschke made her only basket of the game to give the Cardinals a 46-44 victory over the Thunderhawks.

After trailing by 10 at the half, Grand Rapids used a 16-2 run early in the second half to make up ground. Sophomore Meara Beighley led Grand Rapids (23-6) with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

The Thunderhawks are set to face Willmar who lost to the No. 1 see Orono in the consolation bracket. That game is set for Thursday at 3:00 P.M. at Concordia University.
