Hat Trick for Worth as #3 Duluth East Advances to the State AA Semifinals

St. Paul, Minn. - Third-seeded Duluth East is headed to the State AA Semifinals after a 5-0 victory over St. Michael-Albertville in the State AA Quarterfinals on Thursday at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. Garrett Worth had three goals and an assist for the Greyhounds.

Garrett Worth scored the first goal of the game, connecting at 14:07 into the first period to make it 1-0 Duluth East.

2:22 into the second period, Worth scored again to make it 2-0 Greyhounds. Duluth East would continue their attack with a goals from Logan Anderson (12:43) and Ian Mageau (13:53). Worth completed the hat trick at 14:28 into the second period. Duluth East scored three goals in a 1:45 span as the Greyhounds lead 5-0 after two periods.

Senior Goalie Parker Kleive stopped 28 of 28 shots.

The Greyhounds will face #2 Edina in the State AA Semifinals on Friday at 6 p.m. You'll be able to watch the game in the Northland on WDIO/WIRT.

In Class A, top-seeded Hermantown faces fourth-seeded Alexandria Area on Friday at 1:00 p.m. in the semifinals. The Hawks are the two-time defending state champions and are looking to clinch their ninth straight title game appearance.
