2017 marks the 85th season of intercollegiate football at UMD and the boys were back at it as they look to continue their reign in the NSIC North Division and morning rain on day one didn't stop them.
"We had a tremendous offseason and we are excited about their progress, whether it is in the weight room or weight gains in the offseason. Guys are ready to go and ready to compete and we are excited to see them compete," says Offensive Coordinator Noah Pauley.
National recognition already as UMD is 19th in the College Football America Yearbook Preseason Poll. Their opening week opponents from Sioux Falls is 9th.

Among the position battles, the starter under center. Five Qb's are on the roster and Head Coach Curt Wiese has said sophomore Mike Rybarczyk was the front runner coming out of spring ball, but Wiese also indicated that it is too early for any decisions.
"We are just having fun being out here competing and get ourselves better and chemistry with our teammates and we are just going to go and play our game and see what happens," says Rybarcyk.
UMD hosts Sioux Falls August 31st.
