Duluth, Minn. - Avery Peterson became eligible to play for the UMD Bulldogs (7-8-2) last season during December of 2016 so he's seen action for roughly a full season at UMD and this weekend, the former Nebraska-Omaha Maverick visits his former team for the first time.

The Grand Rapids native transferred in December of 2015 during his sophomore season with the Mavs to be closer to his family. By NCAA rules, Peterson had to sit out two semesters before he could play. He faced Nebraska-Omaha last February, but that series was at AMSOIL Arena. He had a goal in that series. This will be his first trip back to Omaha for hockey.

"I got friends on the team still and it is my senior class there, but I am a Bulldog through and through and I have just one goal in mind and that is to go in there and get two wins with the guys, says Peterson, a senior forward.. ">

On Wednesday, sophomore goalie Hunter Shepard left practice early with what looked like to be an injury, but Head Coach Scott Sandelin said Sheperd's fine. Sandelin also said junior forward Billy Exell will be back from injury while freshman forward Kobe Roth is questionable.
