It's put on solely by volunteers and all of the food and decorations are donated.

Around 50 volunteers began making the food Saturday morning in preparation for the over 400 people they're expecting.

"I's quite a process, turkeys come in, rinse them off, cover them with butter, different herbs and spices to get them ready for roasting, they go into pans covered in foil, stay chilled until we can bake them tonight," Kendall Linn, the event organizer, said.

They will serve over 70 turkeys with all the trimmings, mashed potatoes, rolls, and even pies for dessert.

The dinner is Sunday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the VFW Post 137 in Lincoln Park.  They said even though it will be cold, the food is worth it.
