Police say 51-year-old Marcus Holton was allegedly murdered at a house on the 200 block of 12th Ave East. That's according to a Probable Cause Statement and Judicial Review document Eyewitness News obtained through an open records request with Ashland County. However, Phillips has not yet been formally charged.

According to the document, Phillips confronted Holton believing the 51-year-old had sexually molested a young girl.

The document states Phillips initially used a plastic BB gun to threaten Holton, then allegedly stabbed Holton to death with a knife.

The probable cause statement says Phillips later held a knife to the throat of another woman that arrived at the scene, allegedly saying that if she said anything, Phillips would kill her and her son. Her name is being withheld.

Earlier this week, police said a woman had also been arrested in connection with the murder. But, Ashland Police are not saying if she is facing any potential charges or if she is in custody.

According to the Ashland County District Attorney's office, a criminal complaint has yet to be filed and the case is still under review.

Although Phillips has not been charged, Eyewitness News did learn that the suspect has a court appearance on Monday. However, it is unclear where that appearance will be.
