As of 11 a.m., the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office said 911 service remained out in the Virginia area.  If you have an emergency, you can reach St. Louis County dispatchers at 218-625-3581.

If you are unable to call, TXT to 911 is working. The sheriff's office says to only text if you are unable to call and you are having a life threatening emergency.

A preliminary investigation into the cause appeared to be a failed switch in Duluth, according to Valerie Marasco, Cook County Director of Emergency Management and Public Information.

Marasco says True North service to other True North users is working and not impacted.

All Cook County Fire Halls were staffed during the outage.
