The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency is asking for public input about a proposed cleanup plan for Duluth's Minnesota Slip.

Formerly an active marine waterfront, the slip is now home to resulting contamination that can affect sediment-dwelling organisms.

The proposal will put clean dredged material onto the riverbed to cap the contaminants in place. This cap will help prevent pollutants from migrating into the harbor, the St Louis River or Lake Superior.

The worksheet for this project is available on the MPCA's Environmental Assessment Worksheet webpage. It's also available by calling Patrice Jensen at 651-757-2465. Written comments may be sent by email to her at, or mailed to her attention at the MPCA, 520 Lafayette Road N., St. Paul, Minnesota, 55155. All comments must be received by 4:30 p.m. on March 7.
