The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office says Frank Achter, of Chicago Ridge, Illinois, was found on Hoyt Island on Lake Vermilion at 7:15 a.m. Monday.

According to a release, the 65-year-old man had experienced boat troubles Sunday and was able to make it to the island. He sought shelter in a cabin until his boat was discovered by the St. Louis County Rescue Squad Monday morning.

Achter was taken by boat to Moccasin Point and transported to Cook Hospital as a precautionary measure.

Overnight, authorities searched for Achter after they received a report of a missing male from the Vermilion Dam Lodge on Lake Vermilion. Staff at the lodge indicated that he had left the resort in a rental boat around 8:30 Sunday morning and had not returned.
