A passerby called 911 to report the fire at 5334 Old Highway 61 at about 6:35 a.m. The caller checked to make sure no one was in the building.

The sheriff's office said the home was undergoing a renovation and was being heated with a wood stove, which is believed to be where the fire started. The home's garage and attic crawl space suffered significant damage.

No injuries were reported.

The Proctor, Hermantown, and Solway fire departments responded to the scene, as well as the Proctor Police Department and St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.
