Sheriff's deputies were called out around 1:15 p.m. last Friday, Aug. 11. A wildlife technician doing research in the area found the remains.

The remains were "severely decomposed" but appear to be of an adult male, the Sheriff's office said.

"Follow-up investigation and evidence located at the scene leads the Sheriff's Office to believe the remains are that of an adult male who was previously reported to another Minnesota Law Enforcement agency in May 2017," a press release said.

Foul play is not suspected.

The remains have been sent to the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office to determine cause of death and identify the person.

The incident remains under investigation.
