DULUTH, Minn. -People were able to get out and hit the links for a good cause on the morning hours of Monday, June 19.
Positive Energy Outdoors, a nonprofit organization held their inaugural golf scramble fundraiser, Raising the Par for PEO to help raise money for the organization's scholarship fund. This money will then be used to help kids from low-income families attend day camps, field trips, and other outdoor activities. PEO, which was founded in 2004, encourages exploration of the outdoors.
"We make sure we can help everyone get outside who wants to be able to experience what Duluth has to offer," said Stephanie Love, Co-Founder/Director of Positive Energy Outdoors.
In addition to 18 holes of golf, there were also contests, prizes, concierge bag service, complimentary golf carts, lunch, and dinner. One of the contests was a million dollar hole-in-one contest on the ninth hole.
Stephanie LaFleur, co-founder of Serendipity Endeavors says she agrees with the mission of PEO, and encourages people to come out and support the organization.
"The only way it's going to grow is if we all get together and support them," said LaFleur.
LaFleur also encourages people to donate money to the PEO scholarship fund even if you can't make it to the golf scramble. Sled dogs are also available to be sponsored.
