The Ely Echo tweeted that a 30,000-gallon propane tank had a leak.

Several law enforcement agencies and fire departments were called to the scene at roughly 6 p.m., according to Fortune Bay officials. Ferrell Gas out of Virginia came to work on the propane leak. They gave the all clear just before 8:00 p.m. and resort guests were allowed back inside shortly after. The casino reopened at 10:00 p.m.

As a safety precaution, the entire Fortune Bay property, along with homes within a one-mile radius were evacuated when the leak was reported. Resort officals say guests were transported to the Y Store and phone calls were made to area lodging properties in case overnight stays were needed.

Greenwood, Breitung and Tower Fire Departments responded to the call, as did Breitung Law Enforcement, St. Louis County, the BIA, and the Minnesota State Patrol.
