One of the homeowners told Eyewitness News he had just left the home around 8:15am, when he noticed the fire.  Adam Warner tried to go back in and rescue the dog.

"We don't know what happened. I tried to save the dog. It was already engulfed in flames. And when I broke the windows open, it was done," Warner recalled.

He said he's grateful that he made it out safely. "That's what matters. We'll take it one day at a time."

Warner also praised the crews from Fredenberg and Gnesen who arrived on scene.
