Alcohol Involved In Fatal Aug. 21 Crash Near Spooner

A fatal single-vehicle crash is under investigation after it was determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

On August 21, a Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper responded to the crash on County Highway A near Fred Tripp Road outside of Spooner.  The driver and passenger both sustained injuries.  

The 48-year-old woman who was driving, had a legal blood draw conducted and she was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing injury.  

The 54-year-old passenger and the driver were both flown to a Duluth hospital for their injuries.  The passenger later died from her injuries sustained in the crash.  

The crash and arrest remain under investigation by the WI State Patrol.
