The crash happened on Juntunen Road at Stillmeadow Road in Esko. Dispatchers received a report at 4:53 a.m. of debris all over the roadway and a man, who was wearing a reflective jacket, "stumbling" around between the ditch and the road.

Deputies found a 44-year-old Esko motorcyclist who had been involved in an accident. The sheriff's office says squads later found a car with front end damage "some distance from the accident scene."

The motorcyclist was taken to a Duluth hospital for treatment of head injuries and lacerations. His condition is not known.

The driver of the car, a 29-year-old Two Harbors man, was taken to the Cloquet hospital for an evaluation. The sheriff's office says his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

The sheriff's office says the cause of the crash is not known at this time. The Minnesota State Patrol assisted with mapping the accident.
