Ely Flower and Seed got the call from the city engineer Monday morning about the vandalism. The owner, David Starkman, said that when he drove by, the police chief was on the scene.

The five trees were planted last fall by Ely Flower and Seed, and came from Bailey Nurseries.

Members of the community have offered to replace them, according to Starkman.

Ely Echo is reporting that veterans have offered a reward of $800.

If you have any information, please call the Ely Police department: 218-226-5477
