According to police, it was a domestic assault incident.

The incident happened around 10 a.m. in a home at the corner of Riverside Drive and Sunnyside Street. Duluth Police Lieutenant Chuck O'Connor was on the scene and told WDIO that one person was in critical condition, and someone is detained.

"There's a female that had some severe cutting or stabbing and has been transported to the hospital as far as we know, shes still alive," said O'Connor. "We're still in the process of trying to gather what exactly happened, who potentially was involved in what part of it and interviewing people."

In an update Wednesday afternoon, police said the person taken into custody was a 34-year-old male. He is being lodged at the St. Louis County Jail. He is being held on preliminary charges of 2nd degree attempted murder, 2nd degree assault, and domestic assault.

They also said all three of the victims are currently being treated at local hospitals for non-life threatening injuries.

Police say there is no threat to the public, and the incident does not appear to be a random act, but the investigation is still in it's preliminary stages.

We'll update this story as more information becomes available.
