Volunteers in Hurley, Wis., have extended their drive to collect items for victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas.

Items will being collected at the Iron County Memorial Building on Wednesday and Thursday (Sept. 6-7) starting at 9 a.m. each day. Donations are being placed on a 26-foot truck that will leave for Dickinson, Texas, on Friday.

Organizers have been working with a native of Tomahawk, Wis., who is now a teacher in Texas. The donations will be brought to a school for distribution to Dickinson and surrounding areas.

Donations needed include:

  • Over-the-counter medications, such as pain relievers and allergy medications
  • Bandages, gauze, tape, first aid ointments and creams
  • Personal care items, such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, comb, deodorant
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Baby bottles, formula, diapers, and wipes
  • Bottled water
  • Bug spray
  • Laundry detergent
  • Cleaning supplies, garbage bags, face masks, rubber gloves, and work gloves
  • Paper products such as paper towels, toilet paper, and tissues
  • Garbage bags
  • Plastic totes
  • New pillows and blankets
  • Shoes, sandals, slippers, and socks
  • Backpacks and school supplies
