Sometimes, all it takes is a simple gesture to bring someone to tears.

And that's what happened on Thursday, when kids from Lester Park Elementary delivered decorated holiday trees to patients at Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center.

In one room in the pediatric unit, a trio of kids brought in a little tree for the family of a baby. The mom got a little emotional, as she thanked them for their delivery. "You've made me so happy," she said.

Each tree is decorated with different ornaments, some of which are hand-made by students and parents.

The kids have been doing this for years. In fact, this is the 15th annual delivery. It started when a young boy wanted to give back to the nurses and doctors who saved his little brother. That patient is now a 10th grader at Duluth East.

The trees went to different areas of the hospital. Then the kids went over to St. Luke's and delivered there as well.
