Fatality on Highway 13 Near Glidden

GLIDDEN - The name of the person involved in the fatal crash is identified as Craig A. Schemberger, age 60, of Park Falls, Wisconsin.

On January 10, 2018 at 7:49 A.M., the Ashland County Communications Center received a 911 cell phone call reporting a car in the ditch on Highway 13 approximately two miles north of Glidden WI near Charles Wolfe Road in the Township of Jacobs. The caller stated the male driver was unresponsive.

Responding Deputies reported the vehicle was a 2005 GMC Envoy. The vehicle had been traveling North on Hwy 13. The vehicle crossed into the southbound lane of traffic and went into the southbound ditch crashing into a tree. Lifesaving efforts by Glidden first responders and Great Divide Ambulance were unsuccessful. The male driver and only occupant in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Agencies responding to crash were the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office, Glidden first responders, the Great Divide Ambulance service and the Ashland County Coroner.

The accident remains under investigation by the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office and the Ashland County Coroner’s Office.
