Search for Cass County Intruder Continues

A homeowner in northern Minnesota fired his gun at a would-be burglar who fled on foot and is still at large.

The Cass County Sheriff's office received a call just after 11 o'clock Saturday night of an intruder at a home in rural Backus MN. Deputies found that the intruder made entry into the residence and the homeowner fired a firearm at the intruder who then left the residence. It is unknown if the intruder was injured and it is believed he left on foot. Deputies searched the area and were unable to locate the intruder.

The intruder is described as a large Caucasian male, approximately 6 foot 5 inches tall who was wearing all black clothing.

The incident remains under investigation.
