In a news release issued Monday, the Ashland County Sheriff's Office says the body of 55-year-old Ronald Werchowski was found at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday. He had been walking his dog in the area.

His body was found about an hour after a 911 caller reported finding Werchowski's personal belongings in the Krehr Park area, and several holes in the ice near the shore.

The Ashland County Coroner's initial finding is that drowning was teh cause of death. The sheriff's office says there is no indication of foul play, but the investigation continues.
