Deputies responding to a 911 call found a 33-year-old man injured on 2nd Avenue in Bessemer around 2:20 a.m. It was first unclear if the man had been injured by an assault or a motor vehicle accident, but the sheriff's office says an investigation determined the injuries were the result of being struck by a motor vehicle which had left the scene.

Deputies obtained a search warrant for a Bessemer residence and arrested a 27-year-old Bessemer resident on Thursday afternoon. The suspect is expected to face multiple charges.
