Voyageurs National Park, the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, and Picture Rocks National Lakeshore were chosen to represent the states for the America the Beautiful Quarters Program. The Pictured Rocks quarter will be released on February 5, 2018, followed by the Apostle Islands quarter on April 2 and the Voyageurs quarter on June 4.

The Voyageurs design features a common loon with a rock cliff in the background. The Apostle Islands quarter depicts the sea caves at Devils Island with the lighthouse and a kayaker, while the Pictured Rocks coin shows Chapel Rock and its white pine tree.

The front of the quarters will continue to feature the portrait of George Washington that has been used for decades.

The Mint is releasing five quarters per year as part of the program. Quarters featuring Cumberland Island National Seashore in Georgia and Block Island National Wildlife Refuge in Rhode Island are due to be released later in 2018.
