The event was meant to launch a campaign and raise awareness for World AIDS Day, which is on Friday. There will be a Twin Ports World AIDS Day event at the Ordean building in downtown Duluth.

"Awareness and prevention is key with HIV," said Leanne Grbavcich, AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin Community Case Manager.

There will be educational opportunities and community resources at the event on Friday. People will also be able to be tested for Hepatitis C, and HIV. The testing is free and confidential.

"Knowing your status is key, and a great way to do it is by coming to our event," said Grbavcich.

A keynote speaker will also be presenting on a medication that can help people that are at high risk of contracting HIV.
