Playwright Melanie Marnich was born & raised in the Morgan Park neighborhood of Duluth. These Shining Lives follows the historical path that lead to legal battles eventually sparking labor safety standards reform and worker’s rights changes. This play spawned the non-fiction 2016 book “The Radium Girls: The Dark Story of America’s Shining Women” by author Kate Moore.

Raised in Duluth, playwright Melanie Marnich spins this poetic love story/docudrama about strong women fighting for a safe workplace in the roaring 1920s and the Depression Era.
