The St. Louis County Historical Society, in partnership with the 1854 Treaty Authority and the Historic Union Depot Corporation, presents Native American Heritage Day. November is nationally recognized as Native American Heritage Month and this event will seek to celebrate local Ojibwe history and culture. The exhibit Why Treaties Matter, Ojibwe fry bread, and children’s activities will be offered throughout the day while music by the Cedar Creek Drum Group and speakers will be scheduled. The Cedar Creek Drum Group will have two performances: noon and 2:30pm. Other performances may occur if the schedule allows. Speaker Michele Hakala-Beeksma will present at 11:00am and Speaker Vernon Zacher will talk at 1:00pm. Lastly, the St. Louis County Historical Society will launch its Adopt an Object campaign and will offer insights into this campaign all day.
