8th District Congressman Rick Nolan (D-Minn.) is taking a stance on military involvement overseas in Syria and Iraq.

Nolan says the United States has done enough to help the Middle East and that the more our country becomes involved, the more likely the United States becomes the victim.

"Clearly there has been as escalation of our involvement, so I applaud the president right now for putting a pause button on and saying, 'let's make sure, let's make sure we have a plan here if we're going to become involved to do it and to do it right,'" Nolan said Friday. "If we don't feel we can do it and do it right then my urging is to stay out of it."

Nolan's Republican challenger, Stewart Mills, has not issued a statement on the situation in Syria.
