Grand Marais Wins Travel Contest
Grand Marais has been named the "Coolest Small Town in America" in an online contest held by Budget Travel magazine. The magazine says Grand Marais won 30 percent of the votes in the competition with 14 other towns.

The state Assembly has begun its session to debate a right-to-work bill, a discussion that's expected to stretch into the early morning hours Friday. Democrats plan to offer a series of amendments, all of which Speaker Robin Vos says will be rejected.
Wisconsin Unemployment Rate Drops to 5 Percent
The state Department of Workforce Development reported Thursday that the unemployment rate dropped from 5.2 percent in December to 5 percent in January. Private-sector job creation was basically flat over the period, with just 300 new jobs created.
