Kids in Duluth's "Radio Active" club were preparing for a fox hunt on Tuesday.

The hunt is on Saturday, Aug. 16, and the kids won't actually be looking for a fox. They'll be searching for a radio transmitter. On Tuesday, they gathered at the Duluth Children's Museum, which hosts the club, to build and test the equipment they will be using.

"By locating with radios and antennas and other procedures you try to find this wherever it's hidden," said volunteer Doug Nelson. "They call it a fox hunt."

Nelson said the fox hunt is a great way for the kids in the club to learn the ins and outs of amateur radio.

The hunt takes place at Glensheen Mansion at 10 a.m. Saturday. The public is welcome.
