A tireless advocate for youth soccer in Duluth was honored on Friday, with a new pavilion at the Jean Duluth Soccer Complex now bearing his name.

Community and family members gathered at the complex to dedicate the new Bob Pratt Pavilion. Pratt was active in coordinating several soccer clubs before losing his battle with cancer in 2011. He also helped establish the Lake Superior Open Soccer Tournament, coached several teams, and was instrumental in establishing many of the soccer fields in town including the one at Jean Duluth.

"I mean this was kind of his brainchild," Pratt's oldest daughter, Anna Sandquist said at the ceremony. "I remember when there was only one field out here, and he told us there was going to be five fields, and I couldn't even fathom where they were all going to come from. He helped fundraise, and do work, and he was out here lining fields, refereeing, and organizing games. You name it, he was involved in pretty much everything."

The new pavilion will provide much-needed shelter, storage, and a permanent concessions facility at the soccer field.
