MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Republican Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen is asking a federal appeals court to lift an injunction blocking Wisconsin's voter photo identification requirement from taking effect.

U.S. District Judge Lynn Adelman issued the injunction earlier this year, saying the requirement is unconstitutional. Van Hollen asked Adelman in May to lift the injunction pending his appeal but the judge hasn't acted on the request.

The state Supreme Court upheld the voter ID requirement in a pair of state cases last week. Van Hollen filed a motion with the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals asking the court for an expedited order lifting the injunction, saying they're likely to win the appeal and the Supreme Court's decisions bolster the requirement's validity.
