Crews responded to a speed boat taking on water off Wisconsin Point on Lake Superior Saturday evening.

The call for help came in after 6:00 p.m. Officials said five kids and three adults were on board wearing life jackets.

Douglas County deputies said the boat hit a railroad tie, but was close to shore and able to get to land safely.

The boat was pulled out at the landing under the Blatnik Bridge. No one was injured and the boat received minor damage.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Superior Fire Department, Superior Police Department and U.S. Coast Guard responded to the call.
