Armory Arts and Music Center Gets a Facelift

The Armory Arts and Music Center got some updated walls as 15 volunteers cleaned up old bricks and replaced the damaged ones. Some of these bricks are nearly 100 years old, and once they were cleaned, they went right back on the building. The masonry repairs will occur later this year, but the volunteers today helped preserve Duluth's heritage.

"Our group is so appreciative of all the people who have come out and all the support we have got from the community," said Project Development Consultant Mark Poirier. "I think it really does show that there is an interest in saving the armory for future generations."

The volunteers also replaced glass in the historic windows as part of the renovation. They were previously plywood panels.
