It was a big day for the big pink production truck at Hibbing Taconite.

Employees watched and cheered as the truck was carefully backed out of the garage, into the sunshine.

The idea was born when the mine needed to order a new truck box, and the supplier mentioned that pink had been done before in Australia for breast cancer awareness.

So the mine maintenance manager, thought, why not here?

With hard work from the Think Pink Committee, the truck box became a reality.

"It's emotional seeing it here. Every family is affected by cancer. Our employees were proud to install it onto the truck. And seeing people sign names of loved ones affected by cancer is special too," Dave Eddy said. He's the mine maintenance manager who brought this idea to the table.

Hibbing Taconite's managing owner, Cliffs Natural Resources, held a special ceremony. Local lawmakers and health leaders spoke about the importance of health and awareness.

The public can see it over the next three years, working in the mine pit.
