Memorial Blood Centers’ Battle of the Badges event challenges the Police and Fire departments from Hermantown to participate in a friendly yet competitive race to save and sustain lives through blood donation.
The goal of this event is to have at least 100 donors to help fill the urgent need for blood. The need for types O+ , O- , B+, & B- blood is urgent.

Donation appointments are still available:
• Hermantown Federal Credit Union (Hermantown Branch) on Wednesday July 16th 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
• Skyline Lanes 4809 Miller Trunk Hwy on Thursday July 17th from 12:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
• North Shore Bank of Commerce (Hermantown Branch) Friday July 18th from 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
• Fitchner Field (Ugstad Rd /Maple Grove Rd) on Saturday July 19th from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
This is the 3rd Annual “Battle of the Badges” between Hermantown Police Department and Hermantown Volunteer Fire Department. Hermantown Police had the most participants the first annual event and Hermantown Fire the second year.
The battle starts on Wednesday July 16th during Summer Fest which runs through Saturday July 19th. You can help save a life with your blood donation so donate blood and vote for your favorite department—Police or Fire.
The department with the greatest participation wins. The race to save lives right here in our community begins now. Join in the fun!
Authorities Investigating Possible Homicide on the Fond Du Lac Reservation
Authorities are investigating the death of a 31-year-old woman in Stoney Brook Township on the Fond Du Lac Reservation. The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office said Monday that they believe the death was an act of violence. One suspect has been taken into custody and authorities are asking for the public's help locating a woman who may have more information.

A 30-year-old Duluth man has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the suffocation death of his 13-month old daughter. The St. Louis County Attorney's office announced Christopher Dennis Peterson's plea in State District Court on Monday.
