Through the summer, the "Save our Steel Jobs" campaign held rallies across the Midwest. At the one in Virginia, they had their biggest turnout, with around 2,000 people attending.

They were calling on the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Obama Administration to impose duties on steel they called unfairly dumped into the American market.

On Friday, U.S. Steel released a statement about the decision. "U.S. Steel Corporation is pleased with the final decision finding significant unfair trade margins against the vast majority of subject imports, including South Korea, for the dumping and subsidization of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) into the American market," according to CEO Mario Longhi.

The duties, according to steel industry leaders, will level the playing field with the steel made here in America.

There is a pending trade case that heads to the International Trade Commission next Tuesday. Steelworkers hope the commission upholds Friday's decision from the Commerce Department.
